In this past semester, I learned a plethora of information which range from the stages of production to audiences and institutions. The most interesting information I learned this year was about the film making process. I learned in the Pre-Production phase, the script is written, a storyboard is developed, and actors and locations are secured. Moreover, I learned how to edit on Pinnacle Studios. I learned how to add a split screen, edit sound, record voice-overs, and enhance the film. From the recent lecture, I learned what a cologmerale was and examples of their subsidisry company was. I learned how film companies would target audiences through synergy. I found this interesting because I can understand why Disney is buying other companies to advertise/ market for free. In this sesmester, I will be working with my groupmate Hannah on our final task. I have mixed feelings about this project because of the team dynamic. Before groups were finalized, I was stressed and felt guilty because I had to split the friend group into smaller groups. Although there would be benefits if I was working in a larger group, the disadvantages are I will be unhappy and stressed working with specific people. Overall, I am excited to do the final task because it puts my film production skills into practice and I get to be creative in developing a film - even though the film is two minutes with opening title sequences.
Now, with the knowledge received and practiced I am ready to begin the final task. The first step in making a movie is to have an idea/pitch- something I learned in the Development phase. A pitch is a Hollywood term to describe an idea in 25 words or less. Together, Hannah and I came up with 3 pitches.
1) Two girls ordinary by day but, by night are spies and are tasked to protect a special item.
2) A romantic comedy of two girls who fall in love over their love for food and baking.
3) A lovestory between two girls where one of them is a captain of the club and the other one is captain of a sport team.
This is Hannah and I( glasses) are at work discussing and recording the brainstorming process of the pitches.
